Reaction Essay. "Cracking Population"

Calling to mind the situation of the country, one would think that it is all because of poverty. Poverty pulls every part of this country’s heart and soul down. Tracking what causes poverty, most will think of overpopulation.

Overpopulation, like all other things has its pros and cons. The good thing about the increase in population is the possible increase in production of goods, and also a “stock” of human ingenuity. Even with these positive effects, its negatives overshadow them completely. An increase in population will decline the standards of living in most families. Most will have problems when they have more mouths to feed, more tuition fees to pay for, and more trash to dispose. In the end, these problems will affect the future generations. Children will be seen selling flowers on the streets for their food and education, and trash will be seen almost everywhere. Because of the increase, the government would also have a hard time providing these families with health and educational support.

No wonder poverty is crippling this country from economic growth, right?

Wrong! When one would think about it carefully, poverty does not stop if we find a way to control population growth. The only way to stop the increase in population is to decrease poverty, not the other way around. This can be seen in our current society. Some people believe, especially when they experience poverty that having more children will help improve their economic situation in the future. This will then lead to further increase in population. As Karl Marx reasoned, “rapid population growth is a consequence of economical and social inequalities, not its cause.”

It is true that overpopulation cannot be stopped in the modern day Philippines, but poverty can be decreased. The social and economical inequalities can be decreased by a significant amount if the government will impose stricter policies in tax paying and prevent corruption. To us citizens, we could do our part by simply being a good citizen, pay the right dues to the government, and be properly informed about family planning. With these possible improvements, there will be better health and educational support from the government. This will give more children the chance to have their education, and will soon increase the standards of education of the schools, give way to economic growth, and so on. This will then lead to a series of chain reactions that will control the growth of the country’s population since poverty will be minimized.

At the end of the day, it must be pointed out that solely increasing or decreasing population growth does not spell the development of this country, or any country for that matter. There is also a need for greater initiative, a more equal distribution of both wealth and power, and a more efficient use of the resources as the remedy to the country’s underdevelopment. With these, modernization and development will soon come, a rapid decline in fertility will then follow, and ultimately, the increase in the standards of living will be evident.

Extemporaneous!!! lmao.

Last Wednesday, our class in English 3 talked about the stress emphasis. Well, it's very simple to stress words but reading it, it's quiet hard. Our class became very funny because we sometimes stressed the words wrongly, and Sir Toto kept on laughing at us the time we read the words in the wrong stress.

Upon reading the words with stresses, we wondered why the word "extemporaneous" belongs to the words with stress on the fifth syllable. So I read it, then Sir Toto was like ROFL. He laughed out loud because I read it in a wrong syllable. The class was like a market that time because they also laughed due to the reason that Sir Toto laughed uniquely. After the lesson, we had our quiz. I was so depressed because I didn't pass, my score was just 14/20. One more points to pass the quiz. But still I was happy because the class was very fun. I hope that my other classes were like on my English3 class...EXTEMPORANEOUS!

I'm back! xD

It's been a while that I didn't post in my blog. Well, I really don't want to blog because I'm not used to blogging. Since, this is a requirement on English 2, I'll train myself to write on my blog every week. Hope that it works.

Last morning, me with my classmates took up the Prelim Exam in English 2. I was really tensed that time because I didn't study. So, before I started the test, I prayed and hoped that I can answer all of the questions on the test paper. So, the test started. That time, I was depending on my stack knowledge. Well, the test was quiet easy because one of my talents in English is to arrange the sentences and identifying the topic sentence. But i was stacked on the last part of the test, the composition writing. I was like "lol" because I am really lazy on writing, so I tried myself to write. Thank God! I finished outlining but the time was really short for me to write my final draft, so I wrote it very fast in order to complete the task on the last part of the test. Sad to say, I didn't finished it, and it was like one paragraph that I wrote on my paper. I was depressed after the exam but still thankful that God answered my prayer. I LOVE YOU LORD!

Descriptive Writing: "My Bestfriend's Bedroom"

WHAT A NICE ROOM! It was Saturday morning when I came to my bestfriend's house to do our report. He said that we work on our report in his bedroom, so I nodded. Before we entered on his bedroom, we first went to his mother to have a permission, since his mother already nodded, we went on our way to Rally's bedroom. As I opened the door on his bedroom, I smelt the fragrance of a lemon and I observed that his room was really neat and clean. His room was blue-colored with big white-painted windows on the left corner of his bedroom . On his bed, were five soft and fuzzy pillows with different colors: 2 sky blue-colored pillows, 2 yellow-colored pillows, and 1 purple-colored pillow. On the right corner of his bedroom was a huge cream-painted door and when I opened it, there I saw a very beautiful balcony with a nice view on its front, the bay. As I watched the bay for ten minutes, I thought I was in another country, going in a vacation with my bestfriend. Well, when I observed Rally's bedroom very carefully, I remembered also my uncle's bedroom in Surigao City to which his bedroom was really near to the beach but the difference is that my unle's bedroom had a yellow-painted room. After touring on my bestfriend's bedroom, we then start working on our report. WHAT A NICE ROOM!
